York Pride 2024

Friday 31st May 2024

On the eve of York Pride, at 7:30pm on Friday 31st May, Christians at Pride in York will be hosting a pre-Pride event at York Minster. Come and enjoy the fabulous building after hours. Minster Guides will be on hand to answer any questions and there will be hot chocolate and brownies available for you.

At 8:30pm you have the option to join a beautiful service of candlelit Compline in the Quire with talented local musicians to end the evening in the knowledge we are loved by God.

York Methodist Circuit will be joining with friends from other denominations to take part in York Pride 2024, under the banner of Christians at Pride in York.

On Saturday 1st June 2024 we will be walking together in the Pride parade to the Knavesmire, where we’ll also have a stall. You’re welcome to join and walk with us, or separately as a member of the public — we gather near the Minster in Duncombe Place from 11:30am, ready for setting off at 12 noon.

If you’re not sure whether you can walk the full 2.4 miles of the parade, you can instead gather at Southlands Methodist Church and join there as it passes by from around 12:30pm onward.

Alternatively, make your way direct to the Knavesmire to enjoy the afternoon. The number 13 bus from Haxby has a stop at the Knavesmire. Another good option is to use the Askham Bar Park & Ride, as there’s a special stop by the Knavesmire arranged for the day.

Note: There’s no public car parking on the Festival site or in the surrounding streets.

  • The main festival site at the Knavesmire is open from 11:30am

  • An Autism-friendly Quiet Hour runs from 11:30am to 12:30pm for those who prefer a quieter, less busy time.

  • Entertainment on the main stage starts at 12:30pm, with the parade starting to arrive from about 1pm.

  • The day closes at 7pm, with the official Afterparty from 7pm until late at Ziggy’s club in York centre.

It’s a free, family-friendly day with a wide range of food & drink outlets and a licensed bar. Dogs are welcome too if kept on a lead.
